Four-Day Classical Music Contest Showcases India’s Finest Young Talents in Lucknow

Lucknow: The resonating power of musical instruments is believed to energize the mind—and this spirit echoed through the city as the second day of the four-day classical music competition “Classical Voice of India–2025”, organized by Sangeet Milan Sansthan, began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and Saraswati Vandana.

A total of 27 participants from cities including Kolkata, Haldwani, Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Varanasi showcased their exceptional talent in the tabla category.
Standout performances included:

  • Samriddh Haldhar from Pune (Junior Category) on teen taal (tabla)
  • Madhav Jha from Ayodhya on chaautaal (pakhawaj)
  • Akshaj Kulkarni from Bengaluru (Middle Category) on teen taal
  • Rijul Pandey from Haldwani (Senior Category) on jhaptal
  • Mandeep Ghosh from Agartala on pakhawaj

Each presentation was received with enthusiastic applause from the audience.

In the instrumental segment, Radha Wadulekar from Kolhapur captivated listeners with Raag Yaman on the sitar. In the middle category, Sonali Kesari from Nirmalya Ray School performed Raag Miyan ki Malhar on the violin, while Sayanti Pal from Kolkata impressed with Raag Miyan ki Todi.
Meera Chaudhary from Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh, mesmerized the audience with her flute rendition of Raag Yaman.

This All-India classical music competition, which began in Lucknow years ago, has now established a prominent identity across more than 10 states, including Pune, Kolkata, Agartala, Haldwani, Varanasi, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Lucknow. Sangeet Milan continues its mission of identifying talent nationwide and providing them a respected platform.

The programme was graced by Sangeet Milan founder Pandit Milan Debnath, Secretary Arundhati Chaudhary, and an esteemed panel of judges—Pandit (Prof.) Harish Jha (Kanpur), Pandit Sheetal Prasad Mishra (Lucknow), Pandit Arun Bhatt (Lucknow), and Pandit Mahendra Prasad Sharma (Chandigarh). The jury also conducted an engaging Q&A session with participants, offering guidance on technique, stage conduct, practice methods, and career building in music—an inspiring experience for the young rhythm artists.

Members of Sangeet Milan, including Dr. Nishtha Sharma, Dr. Anjana Mishra, Rajesh Ojha, Sumit Malik, Madhur Bhatnagar, Shipra Saxena, Ayushi Shukla, and Bindu, were also present and contributed significantly to the smooth execution of the event.
